Casual employment is when an employee’s hours and status can change at any given time. A casual employee may have set hours or may only work when needed. Casual employees often work irregular hours (compared to permanent employees) and usually have a component of casual loading as part of their hourly rate to compensate them for being casual employees. This employment contract is suitable for any casual employee who is covered under a Modern Award or Registered Agreement in Australia.
